The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods

 

June 8 was designated as World Oceans Day by the UN General Assembly in 2008 in order to raise the awareness about the importance of our oceans and all sorts of problems that are deteriorating our sole source of life. Imagine an ocean with polluted water, no marine life, and extreme temperature. How is it possible to sustain humanity in such world? To emphasize that our lives depend on the oceans, this year's theme is "The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods". This year's celebration of the World Oceans Day will be held virtually featuring speeches from renowned leaders, celebrities, experts, and more from around the world.

8 มิถุนายน ถือเป็นวันมหาสมุทรโลก หรือ World Oceans Days ซึ่งสหประชาชาติได้ริเริ่มกำหนดให้เป็นวันนี้ตั้งแต่ปี 2008 เพื่อให้พวกเราทุกคนได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของมหาสมุทรและปัญหาต่างๆ ที่กำลังทำลายแหล่งกำเนิดชีวิตหนึ่งเดียวของพวกเรา ลองนึกถึงมหาสมุทรที่ปนเปื้อน ไร้สัตว์น้ำ และมีอุณหภูมิร้อนแรง เราจะดำรงชีวิตอยู่ในโลกแบบนี้ได้อย่างไร เพื่อเน้นย้ำว่าชีวิตเราขึ้นอยู่กับมหาสมุทร หัวข้อการจัดงานวันมหาสมุทรโลกในปีนี้ก็คือ มหาสมุทร: ชีวิตและความเป็นอยู่ สำหรับปีนี้มีการจัดงานในรูปแบบออนไลน์ ผู้ที่สนใจสามารถเข้าร่วมเพื่อฟังปาฐกถาจากผู้นำ ดารา และผู้เชี่ยวชาญในหัวข้อนี้ได้จากเว็บไซต์นี้ค่ะ
